JOHN ERIC ALEXANDER grew up in a very creative environment. His mom was a successful designer and calligrapher. His dad, Sam Alexander, was a creative force in the world of design for film and TV, and is credited as being a pioneer of a new visual medium he called “Motion Graphics” way back in the 1970’s.
John graduated from Parsons School of Design with a BFA in Communication Design in 1983, then literally fell into a hugely successful career scoring music for theatrical trailers and TV commercials. Mr. Alexander quickly became well known for his driving electro-rock-orchestral scores for over 200 feature film trailers, including “The Fly”, “Lethal Weapon 1, 2 and 3”, “Die Hard 1, 2 and 3”, “Broken Arrow, “Seven” and “The Silence of the Lambs”.
In the late 1990’s, the trailer music business changed – money was tight and original scores were being replaced by pre-existing music that the studios already owned. Mr. Alexander was forced to make a career decision. Fortunately, his dad’s motion graphic business was busy, and John started picking up freelance projects – learning After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Lightwave 3D along the way.
Fast forward 13 years, and John has become a seasoned Motion Graphic designer in his own right, credited with title and design work for hundreds of projects, for clients including: Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Miramax, A&E, Fox Sports, The Biography Channel, The History Channel, USA, Fox Reality, AMC Networks, SPEED, TLC, and FUEL.
